We booked our Billund trip for half term and spent 4 Days there. Ideally, you could spend 7 days in Billund with kids as there are so many things to do. You could also extend your trip and enjoy a family holiday in Denmark to visit Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Castles, museums, Aalborg Zoo, and Farup Sommerland Theme Park.

How to get to Billund, Denmark

The closest airport is Billund Airport. If you are arriving from the UK, you can get great deals on flights. During the half-term holidays in October, we paid £180 for a family of 4 flying with Ryanair. Once you get to the airport, you can easily catch bus 43, 143 or 944x directly outside.

For a little more comfort, consider getting a taxi There is a taxi stand outside the airport, ask for a metered taxi and expect to pay around €20.

Billund With Kids Itinerary – Best Family-Friendly Vacation Trip

Lalandia Aqua Dome, Billund

We started our Billund Trip with 2 nights in Lalandia. When it comes to family-friendly destinations in Billund, one place that stands out is Lalandia. This unique holiday centre has everything you need for a memorable and entertaining family vacation.

Inside the main Lalandia building, you will find restaurants, cafes, a food court, bars, a mini supermarket, clothing shops, an information centre, and so many other activities. There is a huge water park with slides, toddler pools, a wave pool, a lazy river, an outdoor pool, jacuzzis and even a sauna. Whether rain or shine, your family can enjoy tropical temperatures. If you are staying at Lalandia, then entry to Billund Aqua Dome is free.

But Lalandia is not just about water fun. This resort also boasts an array of other attractions, including a winter world with ice-skating and skiing opportunities, a mini-golf course, and even a Monky Tonky Land for the youngest members of your family. It’s a great place for kids of all ages as there is such a variety of activities to choose from.

The best way to enjoy the activities at Lalandia is to purchase a gold wristband, which gives you unlimited access to different activities. The wristbands cost 179 Dkk (£21). You do still need to reserve the activities on site. During peak season make sure to book your activities in advance as we did find popular activities get booked up quickly.

The resort also offers a range of accommodations, including holiday homes and apartments, making it convenient for families of all sizes. The holiday homes are comfortable and are fully equipped. You can choose from classic cottages to premium-style accommodation. Plus, it’s just a stone’s throw away from LEGOLAND Billund Resort, making it easy to explore both attractions during your visit. Or you could also stay at legoland which we did for 1 night.

So, if you’re seeking a place where your family can enjoy a mix of water-based adventures and all-weather entertainment, Lalandia in Billund is the perfect addition to your family travel plans.

As part of our Billund with kids itinerary, we also spent 1 night at the Legoland Hotel with a park view.

Nestled in the heart of Billund, Denmark, LEGOLAND Billund Resort is an iconic, family-friendly attraction that promises a world of adventure and imagination for kids and adults alike. As the birthplace of LEGO, Billund is the ultimate pilgrimage for LEGO enthusiasts. From intricate LEGO sculptures to thrilling rides and attractions, LEGOLAND is a must-visit in Billund, Denmark.

At Legoland Billund, you can enjoy rides suitable for kids of all ages. Whether your little ones prefer gentle rides or crave heart-pounding excitement, there’s something for everyone. Be it the Dragon Coaster, Pirate Splash Battle, or the Flying Eagle, these attractions cater to different interests and ages.

The park also features interactive attractions where kids can learn about everything from the history of LEGO to robotics and engineering. It’s an educational playground in disguise.

During your visit to LEGOLAND Billund don’t miss the mini village made entirely of Lego. With famous landmarks around the world and automated lego models this is definitely one of the highlights of the park. Throughout the year, LEGOLAND Billund hosts special events and themed activities. Whether it’s a Halloween-themed celebration or a Christmas market, these events add an extra layer of excitement to your visit. We visited during Halloween and loved all the spooky decorations and the dancing and singing pumpkins.

LEGOLAND is designed with families in mind. The park is stroller-friendly, has baby-changing facilities, and offers a variety of dining options to suit even the pickiest of eaters.

Legoland Hotel

You can stay right next to the action at one of the on-site LEGOLAND hotels, where you can have direct access to the park. We had a fantastic room overlooking the park and were literally the first ones in the park. Breakfast is also included in your hotel price, which makes it very convenient.

The hotel also has a Lego shop where you can purchase Legos and different playstations, including PlayStation pods and lots of Lego stations for kids and adults to build together. This is probably the main hotel you should be considering when looking for Billund hotels.

Lego House, Billund – Where Lego was invented

You can easily spend the whole day here. It is the place where creativity comes to life, designed to inspire and entertain Lego enthusiasts.

Inside the LEGO-brick-shaped building, you’ll discover a series of hands-on, interactive zones where you can build, play, and explore to your heart’s content. Whether constructing your own LEGO masterpiece, participating in exciting workshops, or marvelling at the awe-inspiring Brick Builder’s Masterpiece, LEGOHOUSE offers a delightful blend of education and fun.

It’s an opportunity for kids and adults to unleash their inner builders, with endless possibilities for creating, designing, and, most importantly, having a blast. Finally, you can experience a robot serving food at Minichef, which is located in Legohouse. We had a blast being served by robots. The price for eating at the coolest robot restaurant in Denmark is 210 Dkk, about £25 per adult for a four-course meal, and 130Dkk, about £9.50 for a three-course kids’ meal. The WOW Park is an outdoor adventure park located near Billund that offers a unique and immersive experience in nature. At WOW Park, kids can explore various play areas that are integrated into the forest setting. From climbing trees and navigating obstacle courses to crossing rope bridges and sliding down natural slides, there are plenty of exciting activities to keep children entertained and active. The park features themed areas like the Troll Forest, where kids can let their imaginations run wild among giant wooden trolls and other magical creatures. Givskud Zoo (Løveparken)

Just a short drive from Billund, Givskud Zoo is a fantastic safari park where you can embark on a thrilling journey through the animal kingdom. Kids will love seeing lions, giraffes, elephants, and many other animals up close in spacious enclosures. The zoo also offers a safari bus tour, allowing you to get even closer to some of the wildlife.

Trapholt Museum of Modern Art and Design

Located in nearby Kolding, the Trapholt Museum features a diverse collection of modern art and design. It often hosts family-friendly exhibitions and interactive installations that engage visitors of all ages. The museum also has beautiful grounds with sculptures and a playground.

This charming old-fashioned grocery store in Bindeballe, about 30 minutes from Billund, offers a nostalgic experience for families. Step back in time as you explore the store, taste traditional candies, and learn about Danish history and culture.

Ribe Viking Center

Approximately an hour’s drive from Billund, Ribe Viking Center is a living history museum where you can experience life in a Viking settlement. Kids can dress up as Vikings, participate in workshops, and witness exciting demonstrations like archery and forging.

Jelling Stones and Viking Museum

Visit the historic town of Jelling, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see the famous Jelling Stones, ancient Viking runestones dating back over 1,000 years. The onsite Viking Museum provides insights into Viking culture and history.
