A few tips to make your pumpkin picking an enjoyable experience

Dress comfortably and practically. The autumn weather can be unpredictable, so dress in layers. Don’t forget your wellies, as pumpkin patches in Surrey can be muddy!

Arrive early. Pumpkin patches can get busy, especially on weekends. Arriving early ensures you have the best selection of pumpkins.

Bring a cart or a wheelbarrow. Pumpkins are heavy and if you’re planning to pick more than one, a cart will come in handy or a good quality bag to carry your pumpkin in.

Choose a pumpkin with a firm stem. The stem is a good indicator of a pumpkin’s health. A firm stem means the pumpkin is ripe and will last longer.

Inspect your pumpkin carefully. Look for any cuts, bruises or signs of mould. These imperfections can affect the pumpkin’s longevity.

Have fun! Remember, the goal is to enjoy your day at the pumpkin patch. Take many pictures, and maybe even enjoy a hayride if the farm offers one.
